Whetu & Nick Recount

Whetu & Nick Recount

I could not believe how good the acting was. I had a wonderful time at the theatre.
The most annoying thing was the school behind us. I wished I had moved seats.
I had a great time watching the show. Yesterday Christ the King School had a fun
trip to the Vodafone Event Centre to watch Whetu and Nick. I couldn't understand
what Whetu was saying except for a few words. Luckily Nick translated what Whetu
was saying. I loved the special effects and the lighting that was used.

Some of the older students had buddies with the little children. My buddy was Joanna
We had a great time. The show went for one hour. It was really short and a bit boring.

I wished there was some kind of subtitles so that we knew what Whetu was saying.
also wished that the show was a bit longer. Overall I had a great time. The show was about a
man from Britain named Nick and a Maori girl named Whetu.
They were looking for Whetu’s family (Whanau)  with a Manutukutuku (Maori kite) and Nick was
looking for a map. The kite flew away because Nick wasn't holding it tightly. When the kite flew
away they blamed it on Tawhirimatea. Tawhirimatea got so mad that he changed the weather
through his anger.

I did not know a lot about the show because Whetu was speaking Maori the whole time.
Overall the show was great and it was better than staying at school, doing work.

My Holiday Recount

The Circus
WOW!! I could not believe my eyes when people were doing
their amazing tricks. For a second I thought they were going to
fall and have a very bad injury.

In the holidays, me and my family had a great time.
We went to the circus at the ASB Showgrounds.
We saw people doing Incredible tricks. It was unbelievable.
People were going upside down on Hulu hoops and were doing
mind-blowing gymnastic tricks.

In the middle of the circus, me and my brother went to go and
get some food. We got some Popcorn and some candy floss.
We also got some things that weren't food like such as light-up
necklaces for my little brother to play with because it was very
dark.

The circus went for a good one to two hours. In the end,
we got to play on bouncy castles and there was face painting.
There were lots more fun things. Me and my siblings went on
the bouncy castle first and then we went to get our faces
painted. I had a great time and I’m pretty sure my family did
too.

Enlargement Super Hero Art

Enlargement Super  Hero Art

What did you accomplish?
I accomplished making accurate measurements and following
the gridlines. I created an enlarged image of Wonder Woman

Are you satisfied with your Super Hero enlargement?
Why / Why not?
I'm not really satisfied with my Super Hero because I think I
could have drawn the hands better. I also rushed painting
around Wonder Woman’s eyes.

What did you find easy when you created your Super Hero
enlargement?
I found the pre prepared scale image helpful because I used
it to draw my super hero. I also found using the grid lines
helpful when I created my super hero.

What did you find challenging when you were creating your
SuperHero enlargement?
I found drawing within the squares challenging when I created
Wonder Woman.

What do you need to work on?
Next time I would work on trying to do it on my own without
any help.

What would you change with your Super Hero enlargement?
I would change the hands because they don’t look like the
ones on the pre scaled image.

What would you do next time to improve superhero
enlargement? I would like to improve painting within the
lines and not to allow smudging.

My Mum Report

Information Report about my Mum
By Meron

My Mum and her brother both came to New Zealand by
themselves
and left their family back in Adisa Ababa/Ethiopia.
My Mum’s name is Senait
Abraham Alebachew. When my Mum and Uncle came to
New Zealand .they both went to Mount Albert Grammar School
(MAGS).

After college a couple of years later at the age of eighteen,
my Mother gave birth to my older sister named Tsion and gave
birth to me at the age
of twenty-two years. My Mum used to take my older sister to
school at Edendale School and she took me to kindergarten.
My Mum, me and my older sister used to live in a very dangerous
neighborhood so we decided to move streets. We then moved
to
Mt Roskill. We had to move schools as well so we went to Christ
The King School. My Mum later gave birth to my brother Teddy.

My Mum is a very independent person.
She looked after three kids on her own and raised us by
herself until she met a guy named Desta.
She had two more children to him, but he is still with her now.
We are one big happy family. She is my unsung hero because
she is always there for me when I need her and because she
always feeds me when I’m hungry. She keeps a roof
over our heads and gives us unconditional love.

My Kids Can Presentation

This is my Kids Can presentation I did with Ephesians. Kids Can is a wonderful organization because they provide things such as tissues, hand sanitizer, food, jackets, socks and shoes for children.

Motat recount

My Time at MOTAT By Meron

Introduction
I was so excited as soon as I walked into MOTAT even though I had been there a couple of times. The helpers we had were Tiffany (Athena’s Mum) Joy O (Patrick's mum) Ms. Wu (Mandarin teacher) and Joy Paton (My class teacher). I was in Joy O’s group.

The Village
The first thing we did was to go to the village. They had a lot of different things but my group started at the house right next to the entrance. Back in the days they had very small beds. My group was behind Miss Paton’s group most of the time.

Scavenger hunt
My group and the other groups were given a scavenger hunt to do. The object of the scavenger hunt was to find the things on the worksheet. We had one worksheet for our group. The first place we went to was the fire station.

Inventors room
In the inventors room there was lots of interesting things. There was lots of noise coming from one room. We went to see what it was and it was the trampoline room. In the trampoline room there was a TV game in which you had to jump on aliens. Next to the trampoline room was a rocket launcher.

Technology room
The next place we went to was the technology room. There were really old games that we got to play. The games were Pac man, Donkey Kong and the Super Mario Brothers. There were old telephones, cameras and computers. There was a big selfie machine where you could take a photo on the small machine. Then it would go on the big screen.

Above and Beyond
The Above and Beyond exhibition had my favourite games. It was like a whole arcade. There were games in which you could pretend to be a bird and fly. There was a game where you could make your own rocket or plane. You control it to fly on the machine. There was a simulator in which you could see birds flying. The sea was fake. We had to wait a little bit before my group went in the simulator because Miss Paton’s group was in there first.

Tram ride
The tram ride was one of my favourite things. Our tram ride driver’s name was Rob. The tram was really old. We drove all around MOTAT and we went past Western Springs. We also went past some pukekos. We went past Auckland Zoo and went on the public roads.

Conclusion

I had a really great time at MOTAT. I wouldn't mind going back there. The thing that was the most disappointing was the old displays were not there anymore. A few years ago I went to MOTAT there was a mirror maze. I was looking forward to trying it out, but unfortunately it wasn’t there. Overall I had a great time at MOTAT and I’m looking forward to my next visit.
